The elderberry is an ancient folk remedy that has been used for centuries to treat many ailments such as colds, sinuses and influenza. In recent years, this remedy has been a popular choice for treating the cold, feverish conditions and the flu.

A recent study was shown that randomized participants who received 15 mls of elderberry syrup recovered four days quicker than those participants who received placebo syrup.

Homemade Elderberry Syrup Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of filtered water
  • 1 cup of elderberries
  • 1 cup of raw organic honey

Instructions:

Add the elderberries and 4 cups of water a pot and boil for about 20 minutes.

Turn off the stove then mash the elderberries with a potato masher until it liquifies.

Strain the elderberry liquid into a bowl and let it sit until it is around room temperature (luke warm).

Add 1 cup of raw honey and continue stirring until the honey dissolves.

Pour the mixture into a mason jar and leave in the fridge for storage
